“ May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in Him,

so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.”

- ROMANS 15:13

Dear Friend,

Compassionate friends like you equip children and families experiencing the devastating effects of energy poverty with joy, peace, and hope.

Take, for instance, Tony and Sonia —whose lives are forever transformed thanks to a recent solar installation at their home.

This resilient couple has faced many hardships, including hurricane damage in their small community of La Hormiga, Puerto Rico.

As a dialysis patient in his sixties, Tony is particularly vulnerable to high temperatures. Because of his health, an air conditioner in the home is not just a modern convenience that many take for granted— it’s a life-saving necessity.

2023 Year End 2

In neglected, low-income villages like these, the cost of the electric bill for an AC unit is often too high for a household to maintain.

But support from collaborative partner organizations, local volunteers, and caring individuals like you equips Tony and Sonia with dependable, cost-effective, life-saving solar energy.

You see, when you give a gift to SonLight Power to install solar panels, you make a lasting difference in the lives of people like Tony and Sonia who desperately need reliable power. And when the job is done, you have equipped people in need not only with a sustainable energy source, but also the light of God’s love.

This work depends on support from heroes just like you. Please equip vulnerable communities with joy, peace, and hope by making a tax-deductible year-end gift today.

You’ll learn more about the impact you’re making in Puerto Rico and other places near and far in your 2023 Impact Report, included below this letter.

2023 Year End 3

As you read your Impact Report below, you’ll discover how a solar energy solution is more than just a technical achievement; it’s a beacon of hope that shares God’s light with children and families in need.

Thanks to your partnership, SonLight Power continues to build trust among those served. We’re being invited to scope, design, and install larger, more complex solar energy projects than ever before. Together with your help, we can meet the need to equip mission-critical services, facilities, and communities in 2024 and beyond.

Year End 2023 3

Your support is essential. Without you, the mission wouldn’t be able to:

• Help communities torn apart by poverty, climate change, and natural disasters get the electricity they need to power schools, medical clinics, and life-saving relief efforts.

• Give children in local underserved neighborhoods access to imaginative STEM programs that were out of reach before.

• Teach high school students in Cincinnati the beauty of serving others by mobilizing mission trips to install solar panels in underserved communities.

• Apprentice the next generation of solar experts in developing countries, so that they can equip their own communities for years to come.

• Show the world’s most vulnerable children, families, and communities that they are loved and not forgotten.

I invite you to join us once again – or for the first time – in making a lasting difference in the lives of people like Tony, Sonia, and countless others who rely on the compassion of individuals like you.

2023 DONOR IMPACT REPORT

Because of you, SonLight Power has equipped 19 countries with sustainable solar energy, enlisted 400+ volunteers, and completed more than 250 life-changing projects.

Your impact is multiplied when you consider the 85 partner organizations aligned with SonLight Power impacting an estimated 1 million people worldwide.

Here are just a few of the many noteworthy stories of lasting impact you made possible in 2023:

PUERTO RICO: TEENS SHARE THE GOOD NEWS

2023 Year End 1

In the heart of San Jaun, Puerto Rico, the sun’s power can change lives. So can a group of compassionate, hardworking teenagers.

In January, nine students from Cincinnati Hills Christian Academy (CHCA) completed their second project with SonLight Power. This time, we embarked on a life-changing journey to equip PRoTechos—a nonprofit dedicated to repairing hurricane-damaged roofs in Puerto Rico.

“The SonLight Power mission is important because not only are you equipping people with solar electric power in places without access to it, but you also carry the good news about the light of the world,” says Patty Fite, a CHCA teacher who has served alongside her students in Puerto Rico the past two years.

In the path of frequent hurricanes, the island is vulnerable to power outages. Now that PRoTechos isn’t dependent on generators, their training center can continue to operate when the electric grid is down, saving valuable time as they help rebuild lives and homes devastated by severe weather.

CINCINNATI: SHARING GOD'S LOVE & LIGHT IN MADISONVILLE

2023 Year End 5

When children at John P Parker Elementary went back to school in August, they saw some pretty amazing changes.

Inside the building is a brand-new STEM lab—an innovative space that enables students to explore science and technology while building their critical thinking skills. Outside is a beautiful urban learning garden, equipped with nature playscapes, an outdoor classroom, and future plans for a greenhouse.

On a hillside next to the Madisonville school sits a new 13-kilowatt solar array that you made possible, glistening in the sun as it powers the school and the STEM lab inside with renewable energy.

For the third summer in a row, SonLight Power played a major role in the annual Community Makeover, stewarded by the Cincinnati Reds Community Fund along with other area blue- chip partners. Together, we’re lighting the path to a brighter future for kids in our city’s most underserved areas.

But we couldn’t do this wonderful work without one of our most vital partners—YOU. Thanks to your generous support, we can continue sharing God’s love and light while empowering kids with exciting opportunities for learning—in our own backyard and worldwide.

HONDURAS: GROWING DEEPER ROOTS

2023 Year End 6

“SonLight Power not only equips communities with light and energy; the mission brings the word of God and a seed of hope to people in need.”

– Miguel Antonio Gale, Honduras Programs Coordinator

Since installing our first solar project in Honduras at a rural medical clinic in 2000, hundreds of Honduran locals have served essential roles in the SonLight Power mission, impacting over 100,000 lives in their own country.

This year, we worked once again with Cobblestone Community Church and Hoekstra Electrical Services to equip nine remote schools with solar power, sparking hope through the power of education.

We led three trips to Honduras this year alone, with our October trip marking our very first overseas trip with Vineyard Cincinnati Church. We’re excited to develop these partnerships, expanding our ability to shine God’s light on more children, families, and communities worldwide.

With so much need from remote villages that lack electricity for basic necessities, the vision
in Honduras is to develop a SonLight Power Solar Academy, enriching lives with local economic opportunities while equipping more people than we would be able to reach on our own.
