Message from Cobblestone Community Church:
Hi All,
Schools without electricity....Entire villages and towns with no access to electricity....Imagine the effect on the simplest tasks...on a student’s ability to do homework...on doctors and medical care.
That is part of the reason Cobblestone teams up with SonLight Power (sonlightpower.org). We have conducted multiple trips in the past and are building funds again for the future.
THE REASON WE ARE GOING:
Many of us take for granted everything electricity provides us on a daily basis: light, refrigeration, heating and cooling, cooking, etc. Elsewhere in the world, however, many communities don’t have access to any reliable source of electricity. Each installation that SLP does allows the children to have educational opportunities that they would otherwise never have. Each installation also provides stability for the surrounding community and assists with some basic things such as medical care.
In addition, while the solar install team is working, the Fiesta portion (think VBS) of our team will be doing the important work. They will be sharing God’s love and the salvation He has provided through His son, Jesus Christ, with the area children. We will be having lots of Vacation Bible School-style fun with the kids, sharing the Gospel through word, song, action and gifts. As a result, we will not only be sharing electricity; we will be imparting spiritual light that will last for eternity.
HELP NEEDED:
This brings me to you. We need your help in two very important areas…prayer and financial assistance.
You could begin supporting the team by praying for us NOW (for God’s leading in the preparations), while we are AWAY (for God’s love to be felt and for His protection), and when we RETURN (for God’s grace to continue in the kids and community that we touch).
Additionally, as you can imagine, this type of trip is not without its material costs. Each solar installation costs 8,000 plus all the costs of getting people there to do the mission. Thus we have set the Cobblestone fundraising goal at $52,000. And we hope and pray you will be willing to help.
Will you help? Will you support the team, prayerfully and financially? Anything you can provide (including amounts as small as $10, or even $5) will have an immediate and eternal impact on the lives of children, as well as entire communities. Oh, and SLP is a qualified charitable organization, so you would have the added bonus of a tax deduction for any gift.
