Tribute to Allen Rainey

I want to take a moment to acknowledge the blessings God has shared with us through Allen Rainey.
Tens of thousands of children, families, and communities in some of the most underserved parts of the world have experienced (and will continue to experience) the love of Jesus through Allen's efforts. SLP mission trips have changed the lives of countless volunteers from the U.S. and overseas – including many of us. This happened because Allen had the faith, courage, and love to accomplish something that no one else had done.
About 10 years ago, before Going Green became today's catch-phrase, Allen cared enough to start something sustainably special – using solar power to bring Light into Darkness. Allen certainly has had opportunities to do other things. He could have chosen a career path toward a more comfortable lifestyle. He could have adopted the values that society often imposes on us. Instead, he unselfishly chose to follow with passion the path that God had prepared for him. And we (and thousands of others around the world) are so thankful he did.
With Allen's initiative and vision, SonLight Power is about to celebrate 10 years as a successful nonprofit – a tremendous achievement. But the greatest measure of his success is the number of lives that have been impacted for God's glory.
Let's take some time to pause and thank God for the blessings He has bestowed on us through Allen, and pray for the continued success of what Allen has built and will continue to build through SonLight Power.
