GIVE LIGHT CHALLENGE: YEAR-END 2024

Your Gift Goes 2X as Far

Dear Friend,

Thanks to you, 2024 has been SonLight Power’s most active year yet.

As we kick off the Give Light Challenge — our annual year-end campaign to support projects and growth in the year ahead — I have so many exciting updates to share with you.

The solar projects you make possible are life-changing and, in many cases, lifesaving.

Consider our upcoming trip to West Africa, for example. At Hôpital Baptiste Biblique (HBB) in Togo, medical staff performs 2,000 surgeries, delivers 600 babies, and cares for more than 20,000 patients ... many of whom have nowhere else to turn when the hospital loses power.

Without electricity, vital medications that children rely on cannot be stored in refrigerators. Lifesaving surgeries cannot happen. Women go into labor without electricity to power critical equipment or basic lighting in their delivery rooms. Patients of all ages suffer from a problem that has a simple solution: the power of solar.

When you give the gift of light today, you will multiply the good this hospital can do many times over.

In fact, every solar panel you install is an investment that allows other effective missions to direct more resources to serving some of the world’s most vulnerable people.

That’s what it means to be a multiplier mission. And right now, during the Give Light Challenge, your support multiplies even more. Our generous friends, Gary and Jane Booth, have offered to match every gift to SonLight Power, up to $80,000, now until December 31.

Please make your Give Light Challenge gift today while your generosity DOUBLES to spread more light in the new year.

Your support is critical because the planning that goes into a project like the solar installation at HBB is far from simple. With 370 solar panels set to be installed, equipping this hospital will be the largest SonLight Power project EVER. It’s taken nearly a year to work out the logistics to secure and transport the equipment.

Today I’m thrilled to share the update that, with your continued support, the installation will begin in January!

Each year, we receive more requests for solar expertise from missions like HBB. The generous, steadfast support of caring friends like you has solidified SonLight Power’s reputation as the most trusted source for equipping other effective missions with solar power.

Despite this momentum, nearly a billion people near and far still live under the spiritual and physical effects of energy poverty. Your gift today will help SonLight Power grow capacity in the new year to serve more communities living with limited or no electricity, empower more people with training in solar technology, and continue to spread the light and love of Jesus.

2024 Donor Impact

The matching gift challenge from Gary and Jane comes at a critical time. They’ve been supporting the mission for 25 years, and Gary has pioneered several SonLight Power mission projects, from Cincinnati to Kentucky to Haiti. Here’s how he explains the impact of this work:

“We’re showing people that a group of Christians can come in, with no possibility of financial gain whatsoever, and yet spend a lot of sweat and work doing something that’s going to benefit people for decades. That’s Christianity in action, and people’s lives are changed by that.”

2024 DONOR IMPACT REPORT

Your support multiplies by equipping missions near and far to serve more of God’s children.

This past year, the generosity of donors and trip participants made it possible to install 585 solar panels in 14 locations across 3 countries.

Thanks to you, these effective missions can now change and save more lives, today and for years to come.

Just a few highlights of the impactful stories you made possible in 2024:

MEXICO: USING SOLAR POWER TO ELEVATE ORPHAN CARE

2024 Donor Impact Back2Back 2-collage for year-endPassionate about Jesus, Colin Sorensen found a perfect match for his skills and interests with a SonLight Power internship: faith, sustainable energy, and Spanish.

Colin started his SonLight Power co-op by flying to Monterrey, Mexico along with a SonLight Power installation team. Monterrey is home to the largest global campus of long-time SonLight Power partner, Back2Back Ministries.

An amazing crew of SonLight Power volunteers, Back2Back staff, and Utilicast team members installed 270 solar panels across 10 buildings.

“God is working at the Back2Back campus,” said Colin. “Kids who didn’t have families now have families. They get to hear they’re valuable, loved, created in God’s image, they’re not an accident, and they have a purpose.”

Thanks to you and SonLight Power’s continued partnership with Back2Back, we can continue the good work of improving the lives of children and families not only in Monterrey but around the globe with the sustainable power of the Son/sun.

CINCINNATI | NORWOOD: BEACON OF HOPE, POWERED BY THE SON/SUN

Lydia's House 2 collage church and rooftop

Lydia’s House, a Christ-centered shelter tucked in the Cincinnati neighborhood of Norwood, is doing something about single moms in poverty. With a focus on women and children in crisis, Lydia’s House provides housing, meals, and additional support to help take these families from fear to thriving.

“These families come here in crisis,” explains Meridith Owensby, Lydia's House co-director. “But in a few weeks or months, they emerge from this fearful, crouched position to confidently welcoming the next new family into the house. Kids who start out shy and cry when they reach for seconds at the dinner table begin to have joy, interacting and playing with the other kids.”

It’s just one reason SonLight Power was excited to equip Lydia’s House with solar power, saving their mission valuable resources that can instead be redirected to impact the women and children they serve.

CINCINNATI | PRICE HILL: GIDDY UP! SOLAR MEETS EQUINE THERAPY

2024 Donor Impact HOTH 2-collage for year-end

Equipping a horse farm with solar power in Cincinnati’s Price Hill neighborhood? Yes, that just happened.

Now, thanks to you, it’s powered by the light of the Son/sun.

What really makes this farm special is the equine therapy work they do to heal children, trauma victims, individuals in recovery, and more. It was an easy decision for SonLight Power to come alongside Horses on the Hill, an arm of BLOC Ministries, to equip their faith-based mission with a new solar power system.
